Young sportsmen will soon get a big relief as Texas is about to stop testing high school athletes for steroids.

This move will come after two years of steroid test sampling in which only 19 out of more than 45,000 tests were positive.

Presently, Texas is one of the three states in the United States of America that has a provision of steroid testing for high school students.

The proposal has shocked administrators like Centennial football coach Mark Howard, who told DMN colleague Matt Wixon that the testing was more than a “scare tactic.”

Texas is one of three states that tests high school athletes for steroids. Proponents of the program say testing serves as a deterrent. But others suggest that such low results prove that steroid use is not a problem in high schools.

This decision clearly suggests that steroid use in sports is not rampant as perceived by many. Moreover, young sportsmen can now fully concentrate on their performance and stop being extra careful about using products that can put them under the scanner.
