Russian triple jumper Anna Pystykh has been given a doping ban of four years and stripped of her 2007 world championship bronze medal, according to an announcement by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The 36-year-old Russian initially finished fourth in the triple jump in Osaka but later bagged the third spot after Chrysopiyi Devetzi of Greece was disqualified for doping. Devetzi, the retired Greek athlete competed in the triple jump and long jump. She won the triple jump silver medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics with 15.25 and the triple jump bronze medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics with 15.23.

The positive result of Pystykh for anabolic steroids at the 2007 World Championships was revealed in a retest of samples. All results of Pystykh from July 6 2013 to her provisional suspension on December 15 2016 have also been wiped from the record books according to the Court of Arbitration for Sport after she failed a second test for an unspecified banned substance.

The 2007 bronze medal could now go to Slovenian Marija Sestak, who originally finished fifth.

In a report by the World Anti-Doping Agency, Russia was accused of widespread state-sponsored doping. The athletics team of Russia was barred from the 2016 Rio Olympics and this month’s 2017 World Championships in London.
