Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Asif, who was twice caught using the banned substance nandrolone in Dubai, will not be allowed to enter and play in the three one-day internationals and two Twenty20 games at Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
According to Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ijaz Butt, if Asif lands in Dubai, he will be caught.
The competition was transferred to UAE from Pakistan due to security concerns and will then be followed by three more Tests in New Zealand.
Pakistan is set to provide the venue for the Australian Summer, where Boxing Day and New Year Tests will be held in Melbourne and Sydney. The series will then be finished in mid-January in Hobart.
If there were some good news about Pakistan’s cricket team, it would be Younis Khan agreeing to return as team captain. He resigned last week following allegations of match fixing after losing to Australia off the last ball of their final group game.
According to Butt, although Younis decided to quit before the National Assembly’s standing committee last week, he had never accepted his resignation. Therefore, Younis would remain as team captain until 2011 World Cup on the subcontinent.
According to The Australian:
DRUG cheat Mohammad Asif will not play a one-day series against New Zealand in the United Arab Emirates for fear of being jailed, but he is on course to tour Australia this summer.
