Today, drugs are available through Facebook. Malay Mail, a local Malaysian newspaper, recently reported that steroids and hormonal drugs could be easily accessed through the internet. All it took was just two phone calls, and one of their writers posing as a buyer, was able to purchase 1,000 tablets of Anabol 5 mg and Testosterone propionate 100 mg.
Other substances readily available are growth hormones, Deca- durabolin and Testoviron depot.
What are scary about this situation are dealers without medical expertise, who usually recommend dosages based on their “experience”. Unfortunate users, who are so ignorant of their situation, end up suffering from severe liver or kidney damage and cardiovascular risks.
In 1996, Malaysian national sprinter Azmi Ibrahim failed a test at the 11th Malaysia Games in Kuantan. He tested positive for furosemide. That same year, the Malaysian Bodybuilding Federation named eight bodybuilders who failed doping tests.
The Home Ministry assured the Health Ministry that the police would conduct investigation regarding a drug syndicate supplying steroids in gyms and health clubs.
However, what is lacking with the Malaysian government is the lack of enforcement of their laws prohibiting sales of steroids and hormonal drugs without medical supervision.
From Malay Mail:
Many would tend to purchase drugs such as Anabol, D-bol and Testolic at local gyms — established or otherwise.
Today, these drugs are also available through Facebook. Malay Mail tracked down suppliers of steroids and hormonal drugs and was surprised by the easy access to these substances.
