When you run a steroid cycle, disruption in the normal body cycle caused by the sudden increase in artificial levels of testosterone may cause your normal testosterone level to decrease. The brain acts continuously in checking for the level of testosterone present in the bloodstream. As levels dip throughout the day, the brain has the pituitary gland to order the testes to produce a small amount of testosterone and release it into the bloodstream. This is a normal physiological process that goes on throughout your lifetime to maintain hormone levels in a balanced state. When you use steroids, everything changes because the body’s normal function is disrupted. Some steroid users are able to regain normal production of natural testosterone, others take month or years depending on how long you have been using steroids.
Clomid or clomiphene citrate, is a drug designed to increase sperm count and help restart production of the testes. If a steroid user is planning to make a family after undergoing so many cyles, then Clomid is an essential drug to take.
Nolvadex is also another drug which is useful for post-cyle of steroids. Its mechanism of action is different from Clomid because it works by halting the negative side effects of an increasing estrogen level.

Bodybuilders should never just completely depend upon drugs when considering issues that will affect their families and lives in such a major way. If you plan on fathering children in the next two years, then running a cycle today isn’t in your best interest. That may not be something you want to hear. You may want to put on a lot of size before your wedding. You may want to get the cycles “out of the way” before you start a family, hence avoiding all the legal risks while you have small children to support. In the long run, however, you are placing your faith in medicines such as Clomid to help you restart a natural process (sperm production) that you know you will be damaging. It’s a very risky move. If you don’t respond to the Clomid as anticipated, you could end up in a fertility clinic regretting the risks you took to gain 8 or 12 pounds of muscle. Think long-term when making these decisions.
